China chips: imports down 24.2%, exports down 17.2%
Recently, China Customs announced the national import and export key commodities volume value table (USD) in May 2023.
Data show that in May this year, China's import and export of integrated circuit products were 39.64 billion units and 21.3 billion units, and the total value of import and export was $26.357 billion and $9.834 billion, respectively.
Cumulative first five months of this year (January-May), China's imports of integrated circuit products 186.48 billion, compared to 231.98 billion in the first five months of 2022 fell 19.6% year-on-year; exports of 103.43 billion products, compared to 117.14 billion billion in the same period last year fell 11.7%.
In terms of total imports and exports, the first five months, China's total imports of integrated circuit products 131.9 billion U.S. dollars, down 24.2% year-on-year, total exports of 52.57 billion U.S. dollars, down 17.2% year-on-year.
April chip sales in the Chinese market rose 2.9% YoY
Currently, despite the continued weakness of the semiconductor industry boom and global economic headwinds exacerbating the market downturn, the Chinese chip market appears to be performing well.
According to the latest report recently released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), in April this year, global semiconductor chip sales were $40 billion, down 21.6% year-on-year and up 0.3% sequentially.
And from the perspective of regional sales performance, in addition to the Chinese market chip sales growth of 2.9%, Japan's market growth of 0.9%, Europe, the Americas and other markets in Asia Pacific chip sales were recorded a decline in the chain, down 0.6%, 1.0% and 1.1%, respectively.
